JAI RAM KAUR

Sat Naam. I am Jai Ram Kaur. This means, she who praises and celebrates Ram - that aspect of God that permeates all spaces and interspaces. That means, everywhere. Including in me. And in you.

I am so honoured to be in the position to serve others on their journeys to realise who they really are and to cultivate the strength of spirit to be able to really enjoy this incredible gift. Here on Earth. Amongst it all.

My own journey to remember who I am began at the tender age of 19. My brother brought home a book (I am That by Nisargedatta) from his boss at Roxy video where he worked and I pretty much took one look at the cover and thought, “shit, well that’s over now isn’t it!”. ‘That’ being a life of just going along, forgetfully, though painfully also.

I began meditating with full force, making many “mistakes” and having many misconceptions about what I thought I should be doing - killing the ego being possibly the main one of those. Yet as it is, all is as it should be.

After a Bachelor of Arts at UWA majoring in English Literature and History, a time living in New Zealand and 2/3 of another BA (this one Dance at WAAPA) I still could not really make sense of what I was doing on the planet. The only thing I knew for sure was that my heart was saying: leave all this, see the world to find what is the same no matter where you go and serve people.

So I took off with a one way ticket to India. Shocking as it was at first, I settled in for the long run. I spent 9 months there, journeying all around, and journeying into myself, mostly. Who am I when I am not with my family, friends, culture and all that I have known? I volunteered at Mother Teresa houses, I volunteered with Tibetan refugees. I kept my heart and eyes open to find the teacher I had dreamt I would meet.

I didn’t meet him there. But I did meet the man who teaches me so much - my husband. He was a Kundalini Yoga teacher, a Karam Kriya student, a Sat Nam Rasayan healer. I fell in love.

In spite of my plans, the master Plan took over. I was in Berlin. I was pregnant. I had a baby. 2. 3. I practiced Kundalini Yoga throughout my pregnancies. Had a huge journey with birth. DID meet my teacher, Shiv Charan Singh, but in France. And he is to this day my soul’s teacher, for which I have no sufficient words of gratitude. I studied with him and a big group of peers, Karam Kriya applied numerology. The language of numbers is still the greatest awakener in my life. Poetry and magic. Science and medicine. All of it.

I did my Level One Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training.

After 9 years in Berlin the family moved to Perth, my home town. New chapters. New challenges. Growing growing growing. I kept teaching and teaching and teaching. Also kept practicing and studying, experiencing further. Level 2 Teacher Training. More Karam Kriya. On and on.

In 2017 I began becoming a teacher trainer, and now offer Level One Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training through Karam Kriya School in Western Australia and am part of training teams in Victoria and Europe (thanks to zoom!).

Through Small Blessings Yoga, the vessel that carries all the pregnancy, postnatal, birth and women’s teachings, I am now also offering a specialty training that is a distillation of what I have learned over the past 15 years of sharing them.

I am available as a Karam Kriya consultant and friend to the soul in one on one consultations.

Now I have 3 beautiful teenagers with whom I am engaged in some of the biggest learnings of this life. I take care of them, our dog Naboo (Mighty Boosh Naboo, for those to whom that means something), our big, partly edible garden. I teach and train and I assist my husband with his Family Constellation workshops (from which I have learnt huge amounts about what it is to be human).

And the rest of the story is yet to be written. With all that I am, I stand here, grateful and ready to serve.

In Kundalini Yoga the journey is: Clean up. Fill with light. Let that light shine from you to serve others. Or in the words of Yogi Bhajan, Be the lighthouse. I know this to be true and I know it to work.

If it is in our destiny, we shall meet.

In the meantime, or if we are to remain strangers, if there is even such a thing, I send blessings of light. May you reach your destination with compassion and affection for all living things.
